We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who is eager to develop professionally and work towards becoming a qualified ABA Tutor. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong interest in SEN to gain the skills and experience required to support children with autism and other developmental disorders using ABA strategies.
This is a temporary to permanent position, offering the chance for the right candidate to become a valued, long-term member of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with students with SEN, particularly those on the autism spectrum, providing tailored support in a classroom or one-to-one setting.
- Assist in the delivery of personalized learning programs under the guidance of teachers and ABA specialists.
- Support students in their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Implement ABA strategies to help students build essential skills and reduce barriers to learning.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals.
- Support students with personal care and mobility needs where appropriate.
- Participate in professional training and development opportunities to become a qualified ABA Tutor.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable but not essential.
- A keen interest in ABA and a commitment to learning and professional growth.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and work collaboratively with the school team.
- Patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting children with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and be flexible in supporting students.
- A relevant qualification such as an NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
